Pope Benedict XVI plans to travel to Brazil for World Youth Day in July 2013, a Church official in Rio de Janeiro has announced.
The World Youth Day celebration will take place in Rio de Janeiro on July 23-28 of 2013, with some of the climactic events?including the Pope?s greeting to the young crowd?scheduled for Copacabana beach.
The Vatican has not confirmed plans for the Holy Father to travel to Brazil, but Pope Benedict has followed the example of is predecessor, Blessed John Paul II, by attending each international celebration of World Youth Day.
