Stocks are getting a boost on Wall Street from positive economic news.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 152 points to 13,589 at midday Monday.
The market was already higher in the opening minutes of trading, then jumped at 10 a.m. after the Institute for Supply Management reported that U.S. manufacturing grew in September for the first time in four months.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index was up 13 points to 1,453. The Nasdaq composite rose 16 points to 3,132.
All 10 industry groups in the S&P 500 rose. Financial stocks led the way, rising 1.5 percent.
The yield on the 10-year Treasury note fell slightly to 1.63 percent.
